Ethics

Ethics with holding hands

Ethics, or moral philosophy, is concerned with how we should act and what sort of people we should be. Philosophers approach these central questions in various ways: some begin by considering what happiness is and how it can be promoted; others focus on what is rational or acceptable from an impartial point of view; still others start from the question of what makes the life of a morally good person worth living.
