William T. Blackstone The William T. Blackstone Honors Philosophy Scholarship is an annual award in the amount of $1500 awarded to an Honors student who has demonstrated overall academic excellence and a strong interest in philosophy. It honors the memory of William T. Blackstone who served as the Head of the Department of Philosophy and taught regularly for the Honors Program. The Scholarship is awarded in the spring semester of each academic year. All UGA Honors students majoring or minoring in philosophy are eligible to apply. The Scholarship recipient must be in good standing in the Honors Program at the time of application. Application Process Applicants should submit the following information via email to ehalper@uga.edu by Monday, March 31, 2025: A current curriculum vitae or resumé A writing sample, such as an essay written for a philosophy course, or a description of what you plan to do in your Philosophy Honors Thesis if you are currently enrolled in PHIL 4990R (Honors Thesis). If a Philosophy Honors Thesis is already complete or in draft, then part or all of it may be used as a writing sample. A complete transcript (which may be unofficial) or DegreeWorks Audit report. Please also include your US mail and email addresses and your UGA ID number. Selection Process Scholarship recipients will be selected by the Philosophy Department Awards Committee.
