Benany earned his Bachelor of Laws from Cairo University in 2017, graduating in the top 10% of his class. As a Fulbright Scholar, he studied law at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He subsequently practiced as an international lawyer in multiple capacities, including at the European Agency for Criminal Justice and Cooperation. He has also represented an international organization and an African State before the United Nations Human Rights Council.

Benany is a Ph.D. stduent in the University of Georgia’s Department of Philosophy. His research focuses on legal theory, jurisprudence, and law beyond legal positivism.

He is the Associate Director of the Dean Rusk International Law Center at the University of Georgia School of Law and serves as an associate editor for the University of California, Berkeley Journal of Comparative Equality and Anti-Discrimination Law.

Benany is fluent in Arabic, English, and French.
