Applications for both the Hart and Harrison Scholarships must be submitted to the Philosophy office by Friday, April 27 at 5pm. The Daniel Hart Memorial Scholarship was established by family and friends in December 2007 as an endowed fund to honor the memory of 1990 UGA Philosophy graduate Daniel Shalom Hart, this scholarship recognizes junior or senior-level students who exhibit a broad intellectual curiosity and philosophical creativity. Applicants must also demonstrate significant financial need. The award amount is $1000 and may be applied to the recipient’s tuition and fees, books, or other academic materials. It may also be applied to travel expenses relating to the presentation of philosophy papers at academic conferences. Selection is made by the Department of Philosophy Awards Committee. The Frank Harrison III Scholarship has been established to provide scholarships to Junior or Senior level undergraduate students majoring in Philosophy who have an interest in the Philosophy of Religion as indicated by courses taken with content immediately related to central questions of the Philosophy of Religion and have demonstrated excellence in overall grades as well as grades in the major.
