Why Study Philosophy

Why Study Philosophy
Peabody Hall, Room 115

All undergraduate students are invited to meet with Department of Philosophy faculty to enjoy pizza and light refreshments and discuss the benefits of studying philosophy at UGA. The study of philosophy fosters valuable skills that are desirable in many important and lucrative career fields including Communications, Research, Law, Politics, Nonprofit Organizations, Consulting, and more. The study of philosophy trains one to write lucidly, think critically, and engage in rational decision making—skills necessary for success in most highly respected career fields. It is no surprise that philosophy majors go on to career success with the highest out-of-college income among all humanities majors. Studying philosophy is particularly beneficial to those seeking a career in law. The UGA Department of Philosophy has developed particular curriculum paths for undergraduate students considering a future in Law School, including a minor in Law, Ethics, & Philosophy and a Pre-Law track for philosophy majors.
